Things I learned on the Week of June 24th
Articles I read
I didn’t read anything this week that I think will be worth sharing here, so I’ll just out more content in the other two sections.
Media I consumed
Have you heard of the movie "Idiocracy"? The synopsis reads "Corporal Joe Bauers, a decidedly average American, is selected for a top-secret hibernation program but is forgotten and left to awaken to a future so incredibly moronic that he's easily the most intelligent person alive." (Source: IMDb). The costume designer for this movie wanted shoes that looked futuristic but also very stupid. That was in 2006. Today, those same shoes are very popular in real life and many people are wearing them. Watch the video to find out whether you're one of those wearing idiot shoes 😀
Spiritual Lessons
While studying Genesis chapter 10, I found out that the Mathematical formula for the rate of population growth tallies with Biblical narrative. The theory of evolution says man has been here 2 million years, but modern man only 200,000. The Bible says that after the flood, only 8 people (Noah's family) repopulated the entire planet. The flood was about 4,400 years ago according to the Biblical narrative. We have over 7 billion people on earth now. The formula for the rate of growth is
P(t) = P(0) e ^rt (Crosscheck this formular online)

P(t) = the amount that we have after any given time, t
P(0) = the initial amount
r = growth constant (for population growth, this fluctuates between 1 and 2% per year these days in real life)
t = time e = e (The number)
Let's plug this formular into the evolutionary theory, and start with an initial population of just 1 man and 1 woman. If we do P(0) = 2 people and r = 0.1% (much lower than the actual current growth rate), t = 200,000, then P(t) will be a number with 88 digits, approaching a googol (you should google this word. The company "Google" got their name from googol).
Now let's plug the Biblical numbers into the same formula. Let's take P(0) = 8 people, r = 0.5% and it'll take 4,118 years to get 7 billion.
As a science nerd and a Bible nerd, I found this fascinating!
