Women have trumped men in sports contests many times!

Things I learned on the Week of July 1st

Articles I read

  • I’ve been planning to furnish the guest room at my place with a specific type of bed. I had saved pictures of the type of bed on phone as inspiration. It’s like a bunk bed, except there’s only a top bunk, and the bottom half can be turned into whatever you want, instead of another bed. I found out this week that this is called a “Loft Bed”. Now that I know the name, I was able to search YouTube and Pinterest for much more inspiration. Check out my Pinterest Board on Loft Beds. Perhaps something on the board will inspire you too!

Media I consumed

  • Everyone knows that when it comes to physical feats and sports, women are not as capable as men. It turns out that everyone knows this because the moment a woman wins (or comes very close to winning) in a sport that allows men and women to compete simultaneously, the men move the women to their own category. Apparently, men can’t accept the possibility of women outperforming them physically. We still have a lot of growing up to do as a society. I stumbled on this Instagram video that lists specific examples of this has happening, so you can go read up those examples yourself if you want to.

Spiritual Lessons

This is the hardest one for me to narrow down because I covered a lot of ground this week. However, I have to choose just one major nugget for this week, so I’m going with the story of God asking Abraham to sacrifice Isaac at a location that God will show him.

Genesis 22:7-8 (NLT)

Isaac turned to Abraham and said, “Father?”
“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.
“We have the fire and the wood,” the boy said, “but where is the sheep for the burnt offering?”
“God will provide a sheep for the burnt offering, my son,” Abraham answered.

Many things in the old testament are foreshadows of things that would happen in the new testament. It’s like when you’re watching a very well-written show and something happens in episode 602 that was foreshadowed or built-up from episode 5. It turns out that the location where Abraham almost sacrificed Isaac is approximately the same location where David had to make a sacrifice to God to stop the plague that David had brought on his people, which is approximately the same location where Solomon built the temple and sacrificed to God, which is approximately the same location where Jesus was killed as a sacrifice for all of mankind.
